Petrus Labs was started by operators, not career investors. Our founding team has built, scaled, and exited companies in data infrastructure, and held product and engineering roles at Google, Airbnb, and Netflix. Learn from our experience, we help where it counts.
Tyson Mao
Tyson is a founder, entrepreneur, and formerly co-founder and CEO of Tobiko, a data transformation startup which was successfully acquired by Fivetran in 2025.
He was formerly a product manager at Google and has extensive operating experience setting up businesses in tech. He was co-founder of the World Cube Association and has opened two food and beverage businesses in downtown San Mateo.
Toby Mao
Toby is a founder, entrepreneur, and formerly co-founder and CTO of Tobiko, a data transformation startup which developed SQLMesh and SQLGlot.
He was formerly an engineering leader at Airbnb where he lead analytics infrastrucuture and at Netflix where he led the experimentation platform. He is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt and board game enthusiast.
Vincent Sheu
Vincent is a Neo-backed founder and served as General Counsel and product leader for SkyLink until its acquisition by Amadeus in 2026.
He has been an attorney at Fenwick & West and Sheppard Mullin and received his law and computer science degrees from Stanford. He has held world records on the Rubik’s Cube and serves on the board of the California Youth Symphony.
Alex Hartan
Alex is a brand strategist, designer and developer who has spent the past 16+ years working with tech startups and large fintech companies across branding, product design, and development.
He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science. Off the clock, you'll probably find him at a board game table or on a basketball court.
